Installation Guide

  1. Get ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor-Setup-<version>.exe from the Download page — it always lists the current version plus every earlier one, with sizes and SHA-256 checksums.
  2. Optional but recommended, since the installer is unsigned — verify it: Get-FileHash .\ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor-Setup-<version>.exe -Algorithm SHA256 and compare with the published hash.
  3. Run the installer (administrator rights are required for a per-machine install to C:\Program Files\ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor). SmartScreen may warn about the unsigned file: More info → Run anyway.
  4. Launch Claude Organization Usage Monitor from the Start menu. A Demo Mode shortcut is installed too — use it to evaluate the app with anonymized data before adding any keys.

No installation rights?

Take the portable ZIP from the same Download page: unzip it anywhere and run ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor.exe. It behaves identically and keeps its data in the same per-user location, so you can switch between the two freely.

Upgrading

Install the newer version over the old one — no uninstall needed. Your database, settings, reports and backups live outside the installation folder and are preserved, and the schema migrates forward automatically on first start. To roll back, take a backup first (Settings → Data & Backup), then install an older version from the Download page.

Application data (database, generated reports, backups, logs) is stored per-user under:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor\
    db\claude_monitor.db local SQLite database
    reports\ generated report files
    backups\ database backups
    imports\ (reserved) import staging
    logs\claude_monitor.log redacted application log

Data survives upgrades and uninstalls; delete that folder for a full wipe.

Option B — Portable build (no installation)

Use this where you cannot install software, or need the application on a shared or temporary machine.

  1. Download the portable ZIP from the Download page.
  2. Extract it anywhere you can write to (a local folder or a USB drive).
  3. Run ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor.exe from the extracted folder.

No administrator rights are required and nothing is written to Program Files. Application data still lives in your own profile at the location above, so you can move between the portable and installed builds without losing any settings or history.

Silent / managed deployment

The installer accepts the standard Inno Setup switches, so it can be pushed with Intune, SCCM or a login script:

ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor-Setup-<version>.exe /VERYSILENT /NORESTART

Add /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /LOG="%TEMP%\cm-install.log" when you need an unattended installation log.

First run checklist

  1. Read the privacy notice shown on first start (metadata only, read-only).
  2. Open Settings → API Connections, select your Organization plan, and add your key(s) if your plan has any — see API_KEY_SETUP.md. Team plan: there are no keys to create; skip to the export-import path described in that guide.
  3. With keys: click Test connection & detect capabilities and review which data categories your plan provides.
  4. With keys: open Sync & Audit and run Full resynchronization (first sync loads the configured history window, default 90 days; with the Enterprise Analytics API this can take several minutes due to the 60 req/min limit — progress is shown and the sync is cancellable). Team plan: import the official exports on the same page instead.
  5. Review Settings → Scoring and Alert Thresholds, adjust targets to your organization's expectations, then Save all settings.
  6. Add exemptions for service accounts under Settings → Alert Exemptions.
  7. Generate your first report from the Reports page.

Uninstall

Use Apps & Features. Application data under %LOCALAPPDATA%\ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor and credentials in the Windows Credential Manager (entries named ClaudeOrgUsageMonitor) are kept; remove them manually if required.
